Has the 1.1 update been good to your hacked Apple TV? If you'd hacked your AppleTV, this resets it all - so consider carefully whether to do so. OK, the home theater itself is not all that great, but baby, I got INFRASTRUCTURE.Aside from the G5 with a 2TB RAID that has 200 GB of MP3s, AACs, pictures, TV shows and movies, I've got three uncompressed HD editing stations in the next room all routed and connected to/from the home theater stuff in the next room.And a couple of thousand feet of cable tying it all together. So I did a little more research and updated my original article - if you've got a typical 2.40:1 aspect ratio movie*, Apple's downloadable movies are all 640 pixels wide - your DVDs are 720 pixels wide. NOTES ON APPLETV:Executive summary type stuff first:-a wired connection is waaaaaaaay faster. If you can sync over an Ethernet rather than Wifi connection, DO IT. 100BaseT as compared to 802.11g (not the faster/newer 802.11n) is about SIX TIMES FASTER. 802.11n is also slower than an Ethernet connection - the limiting factor is the write speed of the drive in the AppleTV.-I'd been planning on

Apple TV Has Landed - New York TimesDavid Pogue takes a look at the AppleTV and likes what he sees.
